East to West
December 5, 2021
As a kid, I was lucky enough to have grandparents who lived on a small farm on the prairie along the Assiniboine River valley outside Brandon, Manitoba. Here I am on their first foal, Red – the first horse they bred themselves, but not the last. Coming from the Beaches in Toronto, I learned early the vast differences between places across Canada and gained an appreciation for the beauty of the land – all of it, from coast to coast – from family road trips. My grandma would chastise me for showing a photo of her hair in curlers, but I wanted to tip my hat to my grandparents, George and June Little, who settled the West and inspired in me, a love of the land.
