This Land
This Land Canada is an Environmental news hub sharing stories about Canadian environmental challenges and success stories. This Land aims to create a community of Canadians concerned about the environment by shedding light on the amazing work being done by conservation organizations, and looking at these within the global context. Along the way we will also be sharing bits of Canadiana since we have found that generally, those that care about Canada’s environment are patriots and enjoy other aspects of Canadian culture as well. Primarily however, our focus will be on the environment. We look forward to getting to know you and to informing you about this land we call home, Canada.
Founder
Sarah Dann was born in Toronto, Canada and grew up in the Beach(es) area. With family out west, she was lucky enough to spend summers on the prairie in Manitoba at her grandparents’ farm and has travelled across Canada from coast to coast. An animal lover since birth, Sarah was always interested in wildlife and early on took an interest in conservation. She pursued her passion to Trent University where she studied English and Canadian Studies – a field of study pioneered at Trent. This ignited the patriot flame and led Sarah to follow and support many environmental organizations such as the Nature Conservancy of Canada, World Wildlife Fund, and many others. After completing a journalism degree, Sarah followed a career path that has included copywriting within the advertising, publishing and corporate worlds – creating high-quality content for over 25 years. The culmination is This Land, a destination site for Canadians concerned about the environment, which will shine light on the successes and challenges facing Canada’s environment, and inform and educate our audience so they can stay involved in protecting our wild spaces and species.
Team
This Land is largely driven by founder, Sarah Dann. However, Sarah represents the tip of the iceberg in terms of both the creative talent and management experience This Land taps into with both our production and business teams. With over 25 years of content expertise, Sarah has built an extensive business and creative network in the areas of advertising, media, publishing and events – to name a few. In creating This Land, she has drawn on the expertise of senior media and advertising management advisors. They continue to work alongside her as This Land evolves. Fundamental to This Land‘s success are our creative contributors. You see their art direction and production on this website and within the content. Content is overseen and often created by Sarah Dann and we will be introducing contributors consistently as we evolve. If you are interested in working with This Land, please reach out!
